Free Hit CounterI am the youngest in a brood of six belonging to a family of writers and artists. Markers, crayons, and paint were my most treasured possessions when I was a kid. It?s just a shame that my favorite pastime then was vandalizing. I wrote and drew on walls as high as my arms could reach. Spared nothing from the pages of our encyclopedia to my pillowcase. Our home and everything in it were papers and canvasses to me. In 1988, I marched out of high school and was accepted at UP Diliman where I studied the Fine Arts and painting was my major. I also took up Theatre Arts during my first couple of years in the University. I took a job at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila soon after college and in 1995 worked at ABS-CBN as Production Designer of four of the station's major TV programs. I entered the world of advertising the following year and handled accounts such as Philippine Airlines, Powerpage, Kia, Mazda, and 7-11. In February 1997, I joined ABS-CBN's Star Cinema Productions as the Art Director/Graphic Designer. There, I conceptualized & designed the posters, print-ads and all the collateral materials for the production outfit's movies. I also had a hand at conceptualizing the title designs and how they should be executed for those movies' trailers. In 2002, I ventured out on my own and did events-related creative work. I rendered and executed stage designs for a variety of brands like Kraft, Gilbey's, Microsoft, Backdoor Ventures Arts & Music Festival and the recently concluded Animal House Pets Celebrate. In this short time, I have also grown my portfolio of event-organizer-clients who entrust their event-marketing-collateral-design to me. This list includes: Janno Gibbs' Blowout Concert, Pepsi's Mega Paskuhan, The Wedding and Debut Fair, The Philippine Gun Show, Edu-Expo Trade Fair, The Philippine Business Fair, Trans Sport Show, ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies International Medical Convention, Jobs Unlimited, Franchise Fiesta and The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & this year 5th Annual Backdoor Ventures Arts & Music Festival which I myself organized under Backdoor Ventures, an events organizing company which I formed with friends in the Events and Entertainment Industry in 2003. Exposure to the creatives needs of these clients equipped me with a renewed creative outlook that is responsive to the clients' need to effectively connect and communicate with their audience in all stages of their events/projects in generating attendance, during the actual event, and through to the critical post-event collaterals that will secure opportunities gained. ...i think that sounded professional enough... obviously written for possible clients. parang cinut & paste from my resume. Now for the not-so-professional/corporate-sounding side of me, i have my blog which I plan to start sometime soon within this century. For the mean time, feel free to check out the pics (they're worth a thousand words) and ear candies. Thanks for dropping by. Peace. Jay Viriña's Profile ![]() Create Your Badge
